Timm from Kansas.  I called him and talked for a few minutes.  I hadn't seen or heard from him since April of 1968.  He is doing well and is retired.  I had thought of him many times in the last 3 or 4 years.  We are getting older and I wanted to hear from him real bad for some reason.  There is another person Im looking to talk to but cant locate him .  His Name was Vance D Broome from Monroe N. though.  If any of these people or others read this message, email me.  Looking to hear from anyone.  If you know the names of these people I mentioned, let me know.

Message:    First of all, my condolences goes out to Bob Donnan, I don't know Bob personally, but I know he has done a great job with this site along with other great Guys. I was in the 15th for about three months, from Jan.'71 to march'71. I was shot in Pleiku village in march '71 and was sent back to the USA the next day. I don't know what happened after I left Pleiku, I would like to know what happened to my friends that were with me, although I don't remember their names. If anyone remembers an occasion in March'71 where some GI's had an altercation with some Vietnamese civilians, one of the civilian guy's came out shooting and I was shot, I would like to know if there were anymore people were hurt that day.I had a girlfriend that was with me that day also, her name was Mai Li, that day was the last time I saw her. There is not a day goes by that I don't think about her and what might have happened to her. I pray that somehow she got to this country safe after the war.I just want her to be safe and and happy where ever she is. Larry Taylor[Brother T]

Of my 23 months in Nam I spent 4 at DakTo during the fight for firebase 6 in April 71 and would like to say that the muzzle blast of a 175 leaves more damage to a sandbag bunker than a B52 strike.
Also there's a brand new web site put up by swift boat vets from Nam that's a must see, check it out at www.swiftvets.com it's not big but informative.

Message: A good website and I used it to look up details of the draft and especially the lottery system. Along with three brothers and a sister, we served a total of 38 years in the USN (1952 - 1955 were active duty years for me) and USAF between 1951 and 1980. We felt it was our duty to carry on what our uncles and cousins had done in WWI and WWII. My family and I have been disappointed by the numbers of young people who have chosen not to serve. The lottery system put paid to the draft because the privileged could no longer use their influence to get their sons out of the draft. Prior to that, the laws had been carefully crafted to allow the privileged to go to university, get married and start a family and dodge the draft. Those of us who went because we felt it was the right thing to do for our country lost several years in starting our careers and in many cases were never were able to catch up to the draft dodgers. We were compensated by knowing that we had not put ourselves ahead of country and duty and by the many friends we made and the many things we learned. If we had a draft today, it would provide a chance for the rich to mix with the average American.

Hi there -- I served in Vietnam between August 1969 and January 1972. I am filing for compensation and need to locate War Buddies. Do you know of any links for either the 172nd Signal Battalion or the A-Battery 52nd Battalion?
I am surprised I am having trouble even finding these two listed on the internet. Any suggestions about how to go about finding people who knew me during the war? Seems like looking for a needle in a hay stack!!
Thanks in advance.
