Served with the 261st Trans Co (Med Trk)(Whistlers) at TC Hill in Long Binh from Sep 66 to Sep 67. Was a Spec 5 at that time and ran convoys to Tay Ninh, Chu Chi, An Loc and other points.
I have since met the then Commander of the 261st several years ago when I was working for the Transportation School at Fort Eustis, Virginia as a DA Civilian. Also met then Battalion Sgt Maj Ledbetter and Battalion CO LTC DeHaven at Fort Eustis. GEN Dehaven is now deceased. Would like to hear from a fellow squad member by the name of John Bull if he reads this.
Also served at China Beach in DaNang in 1970 - 71 which included a later assignment back to Long Binh with the II Field Forces' 9th Trans Car Co (Car Airborne). The 1st Sgt at that time was SFC Richard (Dick) Gumm. If anyone knows him and where he is contact me. I've been contacted by Gary Arnett who was his driver at that time and now resides in Texas. He provided me with an interesting 20 minute video taken in the company area and on some of our trips to Saigon sometime in 71. I had forgotten all about it and was really surprized this 20 minute clip should show up in my life over 30 years later. Unfortunately there is no sound. Shows myself playing guitar, Gary Arnett, and a few other 9th Trans people. Awesome!!

AS THE MADNESS OF WAR TELLS ITS STORY

Goodness must overrule absolute evil
Though there’s nothing worse than war.
Sometimes we have no alternative option
Except to kill or be killed as before.

The best of plans can go amiss
With uncertainties till the first shots are fired.
As generals plot their path toward victory
It’s up to the wounded, the fallen and tired.

It’s not how strong or athletic you are
That decides who is blessed to return.
Those who survive are a product of luck,
And our prayers and support they’ve earned.

War seems to peel the veneer off society
Exposing our villain within.
A crazy obsession to rule over others
By death, destruction and sin.

The mayhem of conflict is a ongoing scourge
Robbing man from intended glory.
The hinge of history swings in all directions
As the madness of war tells its story.

We have a growing group of 1/83rd vets (close to 50 so far on the email list alone) from 66-67 and later. I started trying to find guys I was with in 66-67 and it has recently grown to later years also. We have been sharing emails, pictures and just re-connecting. If you like I can add you to our email list.

If you are interested in that, please let me know. I have started a website for the 1/83rd. I am enclosing the link to that site. You might find it interesting. Send me you dates when you with the 1/83, what battery, etc. and I will update/add you on the roster I have on the website.

I just returned from the 15th Artillery Regiment Reunion in Branson, and I cannot tell you how excited I was to see the 6th Battalion grow from 2 of us in 2005 to 9 in attendance this year.
I was the supply sergeant of Svc Btry 6/15 from Aug 68 to about April or May 69.
I have gone through the guest book and purged names from it for the 6th, and would ask any and all members of the 6th of the 15th to make contact with me so we can continue to grow in size and become the friends that we were so many years ago.

SATAN’S HORDE

Overrun with war and uncontrolled leaders,
Our world becomes more dangerous each day.
dishonest politicians, criminals and the media
Survive by their falsehoods at play.

Bible believers preach, that the end is near
Our world as a whole is beyond reform.
God will eradicate all which is wicked
By his fire of eruption and storm.

To evil’s victory, I will never concede
May its supporters anguish in hell.
By the grace of God and the power of faith
The goodness of man will prevail.

What we accomplish is heaven’s measure
As patriots respond to the threats of man.
Protect and defend what we love till death
As the soldiers of Satan arise from the sand.

SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF WORLD WAR III

Our sons and daughters serve in harms way
To defend our way of life.
Some are students, some grandparents,
Many a husband or wife.

They face great odds without complaint
Gambling life and limb for little pay.
So far away from all they love
Fight our soldiers for whom we pray.

The plotters and planners of America’s doom
pledge to murder and maim all they can.
From early childhood they are taught
To kill is to become a man.

They exploit their young as weapons of choice
Teaching in heaven, virgins will await.
Destroying lives along with their own
To learn of their falsehoods too late.

The fearful cry we must submit.
And find a way to soothe them.
Where defenders worry if we stand down
The future for America is grim.

Now’s not the time to fight one another
Or kiss our enemy’s cheek.
All through history it remains the same
The strong enslave the weak.

May God continue to bless America
Refusing evil, the upper hand.
It’s up to us to stay resolute
Defending the liberty of Man.

I just wanted to let you all know that my Father, Timothy E. Bradshaw Sr., who served as a memeber of 15th Bn Field Artillery, Battery A, 2nd ID, passed away on Columbus Day, October 10, 2006. He was always proud to have been a member of this unit and a part of its history. On this Memorial Day, 2007, I Salute Him and his buddies. I am glad that in his last years he was able to reunite with a few of his old buddies like Oscar Cortez, Poston, and others. In 1999 I was honored to take him for a revisit to Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he served many years. At that visit, we also had the honor to visit his First Sergeant from the Korean War. His name, Charlie Limmerick, USA Retired. Thanks for this site, it is special to me and a nice way to remember my Father!

SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF WORLD WAR III

Our sons and daughters serve in harms way
To defend our way of life.
Some are students, some grandparents,
Many a husband or wife.

They face great odds without complaint
Gambling life and limb for little pay.
So far away from all they love
Fight our soldiers for whom we pray.

The plotters and planners of America’s doom
pledge to murder and maim all they can.
From early childhood they are taught
To kill is to become a man.

They exploit their young as weapons of choice
Teaching in heaven, virgins will await.
Destroying lives along with their own
To learn of their falsehoods too late.

The fearful cry we must submit.
And find a way to soothe them.
Where defenders worry if we stand down
The future for America is grim.

Now’s not the time to fight one another
Or kiss our enemy’s cheek.
All through history it remains the same
The strong enslave the weak.

May God continue to bless America
Refusing evil, the upper hand.
It’s up to us to stay resolute
Defending the liberty of Man.

Korea - April '69 - Nov '70, Camp St. Barbara, 2 Bn 76 arty, does anyone remember me? I'm trying to get my disability approved for Agent Orange Exposure. I had top secret clearances and went to Camp Casey and Camp Stanley plus many more bases. I'm trying to find someone who can substantiate that I was at the places that the VA has declared Agent Orange was used. You'd think being at the first line of defense at Camp St. Barbara, it would be on the list. I have a photo showing the difference in foliages on the DMZ. Naturally, the records I've been able to retrieve so far have not shown any of the top secret clearance missions or rosters of where my time was spent while in Korea.

Please if anyone can help me, it'd be so appreciated. A couple guys I do remember and have been trying to find are: Gene Autry from North or South Carolina, Joe Paul from Ohio, 1st Sgt Thomas E. Waters and Edward A. Allen. These are some names that were in the 1970 Camp St. Barbara year book: Ltc St. Julien R. Marshall Jr. was Battalion Commander; CSM Sterling Wheeler, Battalion Command Sgt; 1Lt Norman Sonne, Liason Officer; Robert Harris, CW2; 1Lt Donald Paschal, Property Book Officer; 1Lt Edward J Fiksher, Cincinnati, Ohio, Battery Commander.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. David Hurd

WAR
As war is fought it takes charge,
And events spin out of control.
The madness of men can alter the soil
Which nourishes the roots of their soul.

Many things will forever change,
Far more then wished to be.
As the wrath of war starts to destroy,
Those things we fight to keep free.

War is the greatest plague of man,
Religion, state, and sanity.
Any scourge is more preferred,
Than the one which disables humanity.

When war breaks out, boundaries change
And all who die are a token,
Of the rage that must run it's course,
Before words of peace are spoken.

Anyone who thinks the V.A. pension law is discriminatory- contact me.
Under that law- the spouse can't work or the vets pension is reduced.
This is discriminatory against the spouse and labels the vet as a welfare case.
We aren't welfare cases. Unless the wars we fought were welfare-to-work programs??
Isn't is strange that an SSD cases spouse can work and there's not even a cap on earnings?

Brother redlegs,
Just a note from a DQS vet regarding our recent reunion. The NDQSA (National Dusters,
Quads and Searchlights Association) which includes Vulcan and Hawk missle batteries
(Air Defense Artillery)had quite a gathering at Charelston SC July 5-9. We had 115 vets
and family totaling more than 150 present including one 6/14 redleg who came to say thanks
and join the fun. We know you gun bunnies appreciated our fire power and we are grateful
to have shared some mudhole FB or LZ with you guys for some brief period. You guys were
in our thoughts and conversations for five days. Especially those of you who turned your
175's and fired over our new bunker all night and turned it into a pile of rags. I thought
that just happened at DakTo but it seems you guys were doing that all over South Vietnam.
You should have been more careful where you parked.
Buy the way, my mom gave me all my letters from Nam, in one I mention Jim Chambers from
Graham Washington. He might have been with C/7/15th at Tahn Cahn or DakTo April 71.
